মঙ্গলবার কলকাতার সর্বনিম্ন তাপমাত্রা ছিল ২৫.৫ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস, যা স্বাভাবিকের থেকে এক ডিগ্রি কম। আর্দ্রতার পরিমাণ সর্বোচ্চ ৯৫ শতাংশ, সর্বনিম্ন ৭২ শতাংশ।
এদিকে যার জেরে এই মেঘলা আকাশ বৃষ্টি সেই ঘূর্ণিঝড় ইয়াস শক্তি হারিয়েছে। সাধারণ ঘূর্ণিঝড়ে পরিণত হয়েছে বলে জানিয়েছে আবহাওয়া দফতর৷
বঙ্গোপসাগরে আন্দামান-নিকোবর দ্বীপপুঞ্জের কাছে শুরু হওয়া নিম্নচাপ ধীরে ধীরে শক্তি বাড়িয়ে সোমবার সকালে পরিণত হয়েছিল সাইক্লোন ইয়াস-এ। তার পর থেকে ক্রমশ শক্তি বাড়িয়েছে ইয়াস। বুধবার সকাল ৯টা ১৫ নাগাদ ওডিশার বালেশ্বরের দক্ষিণে স্থলভাগে আছড়ে পড়ে এই ঘূর্ণিঝড়। পূর্বাভাসের অনেক আগেই ল্যান্ডফল করে ইয়াস। বাংলার গা ঘেঁষে বেরিয়ে সাইক্লোন আছড়ে পড়ে ওডিশা উপকূলে।
বুধবার দিন সকাল থেকেই ঝড়ের দাপটে তছনছ হয়ে যায় ওডিশার উপকূলবর্তী এলাকা। সমুদ্রের ধারে দোকানপাট ভেঙেচুরে গিয়েছে। দুপুরে ল্যান্ডফল শেষ হওয়ার পর হাওয়ার বেগ ক্রমশ কমতে থাকে। কিন্তু সন্ধে হতেই আবার ঝড়ো হাওয়া আতঙ্ক ছড়ায় উপকূলে। তার চেয়েও বেশি ভয় দেখিয়েছে রাত ৯টার ভরা কোটাল।
