The APL cardholders are entitled to 15 kg of food grains per month at a subsidized rate of Rs. 2/kg for wheat and Rs. 3/kg for rice.
What is a BPL Ration Card?
A Below Poverty Line (BPL) ration card is issued to families who fall below the poverty line. These families are eligible for various government schemes and subsidies, including the Antyodaya Anna Yojana, which provides them with essential food items at highly subsidized rates. The BPL cardholders are entitled to 35 kg of food grains per month at a subsidized rate of Rs. 1/kg for wheat and Rs. 2/kg for rice.
The Process of Changing APL Ration Card to BPL Ration Card
The process of changing an APL ration card to a BPL ration card is relatively simple. The government of West Bengal has made it easy for families to apply for a BPL card by setting up a streamlined process. The following are the steps to be followed to change an APL ration card to a BPL ration card in West Bengal:
- First of all, visit the home page of the official website of the Food and Supply Department of the Government of West Bengal.
- After coming to the home page, scroll down a bit.
- Then click on the “Ration Card” option,
- After clicking on the “Apply for Change of Ration Card Category” option,
- Then enter your registered mobile number and click on the Get OTP option,
- Then an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number, enter that OTP correctly in the right place and click on the “Proceed” option.
- After proceeding, a new page will open in front of you, click on the “Apply Now” option there,
- On the next page, write the correct answers to each question and click on the Next option.
- Then select the name of the family member whose category you want to change,
Upload required documents, - Then accept the terms and conditions and click on the proceed option.
- Again accept the terms and conditions and click on Send OTP option below,
- After clicking, the OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number.
- Enter it correctly in the right place and click on Submit OTP option,
- Once clicked, the form will be submitted.
