There are several stories about how this handsome wheel was created. Somewhere in Puranas, it is found that this Sudarshan Chakra is the product of the combined energy of Brahma, Vishnu, Maheshwar, and Devguru Brihaspati.

How is the Sudarshan Chakra made?

Again it is said in many places that the divine artist Vishwakarma created the Sudarshan Chakra. According to one story Surya was married to Vishwakarma’s daughter Sanjana. But Sanjana cannot go to her husband due to the intense sun. Then the father came and asked him to reduce the brightness of the three suns. As the sun dims, this excess light is scattered around like powder. Collect this powder and use it to make three things Vishwakarma. One is Pushpaka Rath, the second is Mahadev’s Trishul and the third is Sudarshan Chakra.

According to another story in the Puranas,

once the Asuras attacked the heavens and destroyed the gods. Even Vishnu could not save heaven from the Asuras then. Then he worshiped Mahadev with a thousand lotus flowers. Shiva jokingly hides a lotus flower. Seeing one less flower, Vishnu plucked out one of his own eyes and went to offer it to Mahadev. Then Shiva rebuked him and gifted him Sudarshan Chakra. It is with this chakra that Narayana destroys the Asuras.

According to the Mahabharata,

Krishna and Arjuna helped Agnidev to burn the Khandava forest. Agni then gifted Krishna with Sudarshan Chakra. Again it is said in one place that Parashurama gifted the Sudarshan Chakra to Krishna.

The specialty of Sudarshan Chakra is

that it moves at the speed of the mind and returns to the finger only after destroying the enemy. At whom the Sudarshan Chakra will be thrown, he will not be able to hide anywhere in the whole world. According to the Puranas, the Sudarshan Chakra can rotate hundreds of thousands of times in a second.

It can travel hundreds of thousands of kilometers in the blink of an eye. Its weight is believed to be around 2,200 kg. Its diameter is between 12-30 cm. This weapon is considered to be several times more powerful than Brahmastra.
