অসম্ভবকে সম্ভব করে বিজ্ঞানীদের নতুন আবিষ্কার, জল পরিণত হবে সোনাতে
Water gold : বিশ্বাসে মিলায় বস্তু তর্কে বহুদূর। একথা ঠিক হলেও বিজ্ঞানের যুগে সবই সম্ভব। অ্যালকেমি, পুরাণ এবং লোককাহিনীতে বেশ কিছু গল্প শোনা যায়, যেখানে বলা হয়ে থাকে বেশিরভাগ ধাতুকে সোনায় রূপান্তরিত করতে সক্ষম।
এরপরই হয়ত মনে হতে পারে ‘পরশপাথর’ নয়ত। না না এ কোনও পাথর নয়। প্রাগের গবেষকরা জলকেই কিছুক্ষণের জন্য সোনা বানিয়ে দিলেন (Water gold)। ইলেকট্রন যুক্ত ক্ষারীয় ধাতুর চারপাশের জলকে সোনা তৈরি করতে সক্ষম হলেন রসায়নবিদ ও গবেষকদের একটি দল। তবে তা কয়েক সেকেন্ডের জন্য।
রসায়ন বিজ্ঞানে এই কাজ করতে উচ্চ চাপ এবং উচ্চ তাপমাত্রার প্রয়োজন হয়। যদিও এক্ষেত্রে কোনটিরই প্রয়োজন হয়নি। চাপ প্রয়োগ করে কোনও অন্তরক ধাতুকে ধাতব পদার্থে তৈরি করা যায়। এর জন্য দরকার ৪৮ মেগাবারের চাপ (৪,৭৩,৭২,৩১৬ বায়ুমণ্ডলীয় চাপ)।
এই ধরনের উচ্চ চাপ শুধুমাত্র বৃহৎ গ্রহ বা নক্ষত্রে থাকে। নেপচুন বা ইউরেনাসে জলকে এমন ধাতব অবস্থায় নিয়ে যায়া সম্ভব হয়। যেখানে অণুগুলি শক্তভাবে অবস্থান করে। এর মধ্যে তৈরি হয় ইলেকট্রনের শক্তি।
প্রাগের চেক অ্যাকাডেমি অফ সায়েন্সের গবেষকরা কয়েক সেকেন্ডের জন্য অ-ধাতব পদার্থকে ধাতুতে রূপান্তরিত করতে সক্ষম হয়। নেচার জার্নালে প্রকাশিত হয়েছে এই গবেষণাটি। অ্যামোনিয়া ব্যবহার করেও একই কাজ করেছিলেন ফিজিক্যাল কেমিস্ট পাভেল জংওয়ার্থ। গবেষকরা সোডিয়াম এবং পটাসিয়ামের মিশ্রণ ব্যবহার করেছেন এবারের পরীক্ষায়।
