সারা বছর মাথার উপরে বনবন করে ঘুরেই চলেছে সে। ক্লান্তি নামক শব্দটিই নেই তার অভিধানে। গরীব-বড়লোকের বাছবিচার নেই। সকলের বাড়িতেই প্রায় অবাধ বিচরণ তার। হ্যাঁ, ঠিকই ধরেছেন। সিলিং ফ্যানেরই (Ceiling Fan) কথা হচ্ছে। ভারতের মতো গ্রীষ্মপ্রধান দেশে যা প্রতিটি ঘরেই আবশ্যিক। কিন্তু সেই সিলিং ফ্যান সম্পর্কেই অনেক তথ্য আমাদের অজানা।
অথবা, জানলেও আমরা বিষয়গুলি পাশ কাটিয়ে চলে যাই। সেই সিলিং ফ্যান সম্পর্কেই এমনই সাতটি অজানা তথ্য জেনে নেওয়া যাক।
ঘর গরম করে – গরমে স্বস্তি দিলেও, সিলিং ফ্যান কিন্তু আসলে ঘর গরম করে। সিলিং ফ্যানের মধ্যে থাকা ইলেকট্রিক মোটরের মাধ্যমে বিদ্যুৎ শক্তিকে মেকানিক্যাল শক্তিতে পরিবর্তন করা হয়। আর সেই কারণে ফ্যান থেকে উৎপন্ন হয় তাপ। ইনফ্রারেড ক্যামেরার মাধ্যমে দেখা যায় যে, ঘরের তাপমাত্রার থেকে সিলিং ফ্যানের তাপমাত্রা, তা চলার সময় অনেকটাই বেশি থাকে।
স্বস্তি দেয় – সিলিং ফ্যান ঘর ঠাণ্ডা করে না। মানুষের ত্বকের উপর দিয়ে হাওয়া গেলে স্বস্তি অনুভব হয় মাত্র। ইভাপরেটিং কুলিং ও কনভেকটিভ কুলিংয়ের মাধ্যমে শরীরকে ঠাণ্ডা রাখতে সাহায্য করে সিলিং ফ্যান। যদি ফ্যানের হাওয়া গায়ে না লাগে তবে কোনও রকমের সাহায্য ছাড়াই ঘর গরম করে সিলিং
ফ্যানের কার্যকারিতা – কত বিদ্যুৎ খরচ করে কতটা হাওয়া দিতে পারে একটা সিলিং ফ্যান? তার উপরে ভিত্তি করেই আসলে ফ্যানের কার্যকারিতা মাপা হয়। একটি ভালো ফ্যানে 100 cfm/watt কার্যকারিতা পাবেন। খারাপ ফ্যানে এই সংখ্যা কমে হবে 30 cfm/watt। আর সংখ্যা দেখেই আপনি বুঝতে পারবেন, কোন সিলিং ফ্যান আপনার জন্য ভালো আর কোনটা খারাপ।
বড় হলে ভালো – সিলিং ফ্যান যত বড় হবে, ফ্যানের কার্যকারিতা তত বাড়বে। ছোট ফ্যান দেখতে ভালো হলেও, সেই ফ্যানে হাওয়ার পরিমাণ কখনই বড় ব্লেডের ফ্যানের সমান হবে না।
কম স্পিডে বেশি কার্যকর – ফ্যানের স্পিড কম থাকলে, তা বেশি কার্যকর হবে। তা,ই সব সময় মিডিয়াম অথবা লো স্পিডে সিলিং ফ্যান চালান। বড় ব্লেডের ফ্যান ধীরে চালালে, ছোট ব্লেডের ফ্যানের থেকে বেশি কার্যকর হবে।
এসির সঙ্গে সিলিং ফ্যান – আপনার বাড়িতে এয়ার কন্ডিশনার না থাকলে সিলিং ফ্যান আপনাকে স্বস্তি দেবে। কিন্তু, বাড়িতে এসি থাকলে এবং তার সঙ্গেই ফ্যান চালালে বিদ্যুৎ সাশ্রয় হয় না, সমীক্ষায় এমন তথ্যই জানা গিয়েছে। 1996 সালে ফ্লোরিডা সোলার এনার্জি সেন্টারের এক সমীক্ষায় দাবি করা হয়েছিল,
যাঁরা তাপমাত্রা বাড়িয়ে ঘরে এসি চালান, তাঁদের সঙ্গে যাঁরা ফ্যান ছাড়া এসি ব্যবহার করেন তাঁদের বিদ্যুৎ বিলে পার্থক্য দেখা যায়নি। যদিও, সকলে এই সমীক্ষার তথ্য বিশ্বাস করেন না। অনেকের দাবি, বেশি তাপমাত্রায় এসির সঙ্গে ঘরে সিলিং ফ্যান চালিয়ে রাখলে অনেকটা বিদ্যুৎ সাশ্রয় হয়।
সিলিং ফ্যানে ভয় – অনেকেই মাথার উপর সিলিং ফ্যান ভেঙে পড়ার ভয় পান। যদিও, নিয়মিত ফ্যানের সার্ভিস করালে এই সম্ভাবনা খুবই কমে যায়। সিলিং ফ্যান ভেঙে পড়ার সম্ভাবনা অস্বাভাবিক না হলেও, তা এতটাই নগণ্য যে ভয় না পেলেও চলবে।
