According to IMD (India Meteorological Department), Mocha cyclonic circulation is likely to develop over the southeast Bay of Bengal around May 6, and under its influence, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the same region on May 7.

The Mocha Cyclone caused widespread damage to infrastructure, agriculture, and homes in the region. The strong winds and heavy rainfall resulted in flash floods and landslides, which caused several fatalities and injuries. According to reports, more than 13 people lost their lives, and several others were injured due to the cyclone.
The cyclone also caused extensive damage to the transportation network, including roads and bridges, which hampered relief efforts. Several houses were destroyed, and thousands of people were forced to flee their homes due to the severe weather conditions.
The impact of the Mocha Cyclone was particularly severe in the areas of Taiz, Hodeidah, and Lahj, where several villages and towns were cut off due to the floods. The heavy rainfall caused rivers to overflow, which damaged crops and resulted in the loss of livelihood for many farmers in the region.

Response to Mocha Cyclone
The Yemeni government, along with several international organizations, responded to the Mocha Cyclone by launching relief efforts to assist the affected population. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) provided emergency funding to support relief efforts, while other organizations provided essential items such as food, water, and shelter to the affected communities.
The Yemeni Red Crescent Society also provided emergency relief to those affected by the cyclone, including distributing food parcels and shelter kits. The organization also provided medical assistance to the injured and evacuated those in need of urgent medical care.
