পকেট ভেন্টিলেটর (Pocket Ventilator) আবিষ্কার করলেন কলকাতার বিজ্ঞানী রমেন্দ্রলাল মুখার্জি!

নাম শুনেই বোঝা যাচ্ছে অত্যন্ত ছোট এবং হালকা ওজনের এই যন্ত্রটি। কিন্তু বিপদের সময়, শ্বাসকষ্টে দারুণ উপকার দেবে। পোর্টেবল এই ভেন্টিলেটর ব্যাটারিচালিত। রমেন্দ্রলাল পেশায় ইঞ্জিনিয়র, কিন্তু এটা ওটা আবিষ্কার করতে ভালবাসেন। বলা যায় শখের বিজ্ঞানী। তিনিই এমন এক বস্তু আবিষ্কার করলেন যা এর আগে কেউ ভাবেইনি।
তাঁর মাথায় এই আইডিয়া আসার কারণ, নিজেরই অক্সিজেন স্যাচুরেশন মাত্রা নেমে গিয়েছিল 88-তে। পরিবারের লোকজন বারবার হাসপাতালে ভর্তি হতে জোরাজুরি করেন। যদিও সে যাত্রা সুস্থ হয়ে যান। এরপরেই পকেট ভেন্টিলেটর বানানোর আইডিয়া মাথায় চাপে।
প্ল্যান ছকে নেন রমেন্দ্রলাল, দরকারি সরঞ্জাম জোগাড় করেন এবং দিন কুড়ির মধ্যে প্রথম প্রোটোটাইপ তৈরি হয়ে যায়। যন্ত্রটির দুটি অংশ। একটি পাওয়ার ইউনিট এবং অন্যটি ভেন্টিলেশনের অংশ যার সঙ্গে জুড়ে আছে মাউথপিস।
