 for Indian Navy Recruitment 2023: The Indian Navy has released a notification for the recruitment of short service commission officers for various entries –Jan 2024 (ST 24) Course. Both can apply for these posts (Men & Women).

Applications are invited from eligible unmarried men and unmarried women candidates for grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) for courses commencing Jan 2024 onwards at Indian Naval Academy (INA) Ezhimala, Kerala. Candidates must fulfill the conditions of nationality as laid down by the Government of India.

What is the educational qualification for the applications of the Indian Navy –in detail below;

General Service [GS(X)] – BE/B.Tech in any discipline with minimum 60% marks

Air Traffic Controller (ATC), Naval Air Operations Officer (NAOO) & Pilot – BE/B.Tech in any discipline with minimum of 60% marks. (Candidate must have 60% aggregate marks in class X and XII and minimum 60% marks in English in class X or class XII).

Logistics –(i) BE/B.Tech in any discipline with First Class or (ii) MBA with First Class, or (iii) B.Sc / B.Com / B.Sc.(IT) with First class along with PG Diploma in Finance / Logistics / Supply Chain Management / Material Management, or (iv) MCA / M.Sc (IT) with First Class

Naval Armament Inspectorate Cadre (NAIC) –BE/B.Tech with minimum 60% marks in Mechanical / Mechanical with Automation / Electrical / Electrical & Electronics / Electronics / Micro Electronics / Instrumentation / Electronics & Communication / Electronics & Tele Communication /Instrumentation & Control / Control Engineering / Production / Industrial Production / Industrial Engineering / Applied Electronics & Instrumentation/ Electronics & Instrumentation / Information Technology / Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Computer Application / Metallurgy / Metallurgical / Chemical/ Material Science / Aero Space / Aeronautical Engineering OR Post Graduate degree in Electronics / Physics. Candidate must have 60% aggregate marks in class X and XII and minimum 60% marks in English in class X or class XII.

Education –

  • 60% marks in M.Sc. (Maths/Operational Research) with Physics in B.Sc.
  • 60% marks in M.Sc. (Physics/Applied Physics) with Maths in B.Sc.
  • 60% marks in M.Sc. Chemistry with Physics in B.Sc
  • BE / B.Tech with minimum 60% marks in Mechanical Engineering

Salary Amount:

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates who have graduated/post-graduated or in the final year with minimum 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA.
  • The university for the above-mentioned should be incorporated by an Act of Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities/Autonomous Universities under UGC Act 1956; IIT Act, 1961; AICTE Act, 1987; NITSER Act, 2007; IIIT Act, 2014.
  • Candidates who have obtained a degree in Engineering with 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA/System from such foreign university/ college/ institution.
  • The university/college/institution should be recognised by the Government of India for the purpose or Engineering Degree/equivalence certificate from Association of Indian Universities established under AIU, Act 1973, can apply

Medical standards/ Relaxation in Height and Weight/ Tattoo. Please visit website www.joinindiannavy.gov.in for information. SSB recommended candidates are required to undergo medical examination as applicable to their entry. Change of medical hospital/centre is not permissible under any circumstances.

Tenure of Commission. Selected candidates will be granted Short Service Commission initially for 10 years extendable by maximum 04 years in 02 terms (02 years + 02 years), subject to service requirement, performance, medical eligibility and willingness of candidates

Selection Procedure.

The selection procedure is as follows:-

(a) Shortlisting of application will be based on normalised marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying degree. Marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying degree will be normalised using formulae mentioned in Join Indian Navy website (URL:-https://www.joinindiannavy.gov.in/files/normalisation.pdf).

(b) BE/B Tech. For candidates who have completed or in final year of BE/B Tech, marks obtained upto fifth semester will be considered for SSB shortlisting.

(c) Post-Graduate Degree Programme. For candidates who have completed MSc, MCA, MBA, M Tech, marks obtained in all semesters will be considered. For candidates who are in final year, shortlisting will be based on pre-final year performance.

(d) Candidates selected in the final merit list will be required to submit the proof of completing the qualifying degree with minimum 60% marks by sending an email at the address [email protected] . Candidates failing to meet the criteria will not be permitted to join the Academy.

(e) Shortlisted candidates will be informed about their selection for SSB interview through e-mail or SMS (provided by candidates in their application form). Candidates are advised not to change their e-mail/ mobile number till selection process is over and check their inbox and spam folder periodically.

(f) Change of SSB Centre for interview is not permissible under any circumstances.

(g) Any correspondence regarding change of SSB dates be addressed to the call up officer of the concerned SSB on receipt of call up letter. Candidates are to download the call up letter on receiving intimation from IHQ MoD (N) at SMS/email (provided by candidates in their application).

(h) No compensation is admissible in case of any injury sustained as a result of tests during SSB interviews

(i) AC 3 tier rail fare is admissible for the SSB interview, if appearing for the first time for particular type of commission. Candidates are required to bring photocopy of the first page of pass book or cheque leaf where the name, A/C No. & IFSC details are mentioned, while appearing for SSB.

Merit List:

Merit list will be prepared based on SSB marks for all entries as per availability of vacancies and medical clearance for respective entry. Candidates declared fit in medical examination would be appointed as per availability of vacancies in the entry.

Required Documents:

  1. All relevant documents (preferably in original), marks sheets upto 5th & 7th semester for regular and integrated BE/ B.Tech courses respectively and all semesters for other degree examination
  2. Date of birth proof (as per 10th and 12th certificate)
  3. CGPA conversion formula for BE/ B.Tech
  4. Merchant Navy certificate issued by Government of India
  5. Ministry of Shipping and Transport
  6. NCC ‘C’ certificate issued by National Cadet Corps
  7. A recent passport-size color photograph
