SIR Status Check online : How to check your name in final voter list

SIR Status Check online: The Election Commission of India has started publishing the final electoral rolls for West Bengal after completing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. This update is crucial ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, as it determines who is eligible to vote.

The final voter list includes all names from the earlier draft list, but it also includes status indicators for certain entries. This means your name could be confirmed, marked deleted, or shown as under adjudication.

What is SIR and Why It Matters

SIR stands for Special Intensive Revision, a process the Election Commission conducts periodically to update the electoral rolls. This involves:

  • Adding newly eligible voters
  • Removing the names of people who have moved away or passed away
  • Correcting duplicates or mismatches in records

After months of reviews, hearings, and field verification by Booth Level Officers (BLOs), the final list has now been released online.

Total Numbers & Deletions

The final list retains around 7.08 crore names that were part of the draft roll. However, certain entries are marked differently:

  • Deleted names: These are voters removed from the list by EROs/AEROs because of issues like lack of proper documentation or ineligibility.
  • Under adjudication names: These entries are pending review by a judicial officer.

Around 66 lakh entries fall into these two categories.

Step by Step: How to Check Your Name Online

You can check your name in the final electoral roll using the official Election Commission tools:

  2. Use the Name or EPIC Number Search. On the portal, you will see options to search the electoral roll:
    • Search by EPIC Number (the number on your voter ID card)
    • Search by personal details (name, date of birth, district, etc.)
  3.  Submit and Review: After entering your details, submit the form, and you will see your voter information if you are still on the list.
  4. Alternative Platforms: If the online portal is slow or not yet updated for your area, you can also check on:
    • CEOWestBengal official website
    • ECINET mobile application
    • Physical lists at local election offices (AERO, District Election Office, etc.)

What to Do If Your Name Is Missing or Deleted

Finding your name marked as deleted or under adjudication can be stressful. Here’s what you can do:

If Marked Deleted for SIR Status Check online

This generally means your name was removed due to documentation issues or other technical reasons. You still have options:

  • Apply to the District Magistrate (DM) or District Election Officer (DEO) within 5 days of final list publication.
  • Attend a hearing with valid documents to have your name reinstated.
  • If that doesn’t work, you can appeal to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).
If approved, your name will be included in a supplementary electoral roll.

If Marked Under Adjudication

This means your case is pending review by a judicial officer:

  • If the officer approves the case, you will be included in the supplementary list.
  • If not, your name stands excluded.
In that case, you may file Form 6 to reapply as a voter for future elections.

If Your Name Appears Without Issues

No action is needed. You are officially an eligible voter and can participate in the upcoming elections.

Offline Options and Local Help

If internet access is difficult or the portal is slow:

  • Visit your Booth Level Officer (BLO) or local election office.
  • They can help verify your status using their official lists and tools.

BLOs have been actively helping voters understand their status and prepare necessary applications for corrections.

Why Checking Your Name Is Important

With elections approaching, ensuring your name is correctly listed matters. Only registered voters can cast ballots, and errors in the roll can affect your voting rights. Checking early gives you time to correct mistakes and complete any required procedures.
