Women-Led Green Mission: Positive Barta has launched a unique initiative aimed at women’s empowerment through the formation of clusters dedicated to tree plantation and conservation.

Positive Barta has embarked on a transformative initiative aimed at women’s empowerment by forming dedicated clusters of women entrepreneurs for tree plantation and conservation activities across India. This initiative not only focuses on environmental sustainability but also strives to create socio-economic upliftment through active community participation.
A Nationwide Green Mission
Under the inspiring slogan “One Crore Trees in One Year – A Green Mission for Social Development,” Positive Barta launched a massive afforestation campaign on 5th June, coinciding with World Environment Day. This nationwide campaign aims to plant one crore trees over the course of a year with a focus on community-driven and cluster-based execution models.
Tripura Campaign: A Joint Initiative
In the state of Tripura, the mission is being implemented through a joint collaboration between Positive Barta and Tripura Santiniketan Medical College. As part of this localized drive, one lakh trees will be planted and nurtured by local women entrepreneurs. These women are actively involved in both planting and encouraging others to join the cause.
Cluster-Based Model for Sustainable Impact
Malay Pit, the founder of Positive Barta and President of Tripura Santiniketan Medical College, stated:
“Our plan is to form 200 women-led clusters in Tripura. These clusters will take charge of tree plantation efforts and ensure their growth through community support.”
Each cluster will operate with formal agreements involving local government authorities, individuals, or institutions. The innovative part of this model is that once trees mature or begin to bear fruit, the proceeds from sales will directly benefit the cluster members—thus promoting financial independence for women.
Funding and Support Mechanism
To support the clusters, Tripura Santiniketan Medical College will provide initial financial assistance. Malay Pit added:
“We will seek additional support—financial and infrastructural—from the state and central governments, along with local stakeholders.”
The aim is to swiftly establish the clusters with the full cooperation of the Tripura government.

Beyond the Target: Hope for a Greener Future
While the target in Tripura is the plantation of one lakh trees, Malay Pit expressed optimism that the actual number may exceed expectations due to strong community engagement and motivation.
