January 17: ₹3,250 Crore Worth of Projects to Be Launched in Malda (PM Modi to Visit West Bengal)
According to the Prime Minister’s official statement, the first day of the visit will begin in Malda, where projects worth more than ₹3,250 crore will be inaugurated or have their foundation stones laid.
These projects are aimed at strengthening regional infrastructure and accelerating economic development in different parts of West Bengal.
A major highlight of the day will be the flagging off of the first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train between Howrah and Guwahati, marking a significant milestone in long-distance premium rail travel in eastern India.

- Balurghat–Hili new railway line
- Modern freight train maintenance facility at New Jalpaiguri
- Upgradation of Siliguri loco shed
- Modernisation of Vande Bharat train maintenance infrastructure at Jalpaiguri
- Launch of four new Amrit Bharat trains
