Kargil Vijay Diwas 2022: Today, 26th July, Kargil Vijay Diwas is being celebrated across the country. On this day, the war that lasted for almost 60 days between India and Pakistan in Kargil came to an end. India got the victory in this war.

In the year 1999, Pakistani infiltrators and soldiers secretly entered the Kargil hills. Against them, the Indian Army started ‘Operation Vijay’ and killed the intruders or forced them to flee.

Why is Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrated on 26 July every year?

On 26 July, the army completely freed the Kargil hills from the clutches of intruders on the strength of its might. Since then this day is celebrated as Kargil Vijay Diwas. However, more than 500 Indian soldiers were also martyred in the Kargil War. Every year on the occasion of Vijay Diwas, many programs are also organized in the country.

It has been 23 years since the Kargil War. This year we are celebrating the 23rd anniversary of ‘Vijay Diwas’. Even today, some words of brave warriors who laid down their lives for the country in Kargil ignite the flame of patriotism in Rome and Rome.

Kargil Vijay Diwas: 527 Indian soldiers had sacrificed:

527 Indian soldiers were martyred during the Kargil war. Under the Simla Agreement, both the countries withdraw their troops from the forward posts during the winter, but

Pakistan took the wrong advantage of this agreement and occupied the territories of India. On discovering this, the Indian soldiers retaliated.

The deceitful Pakistani army hiding at the height:

The main objective of the Pakistani army was to break the ties between Ladakh and Kashmir and to create tension on the Indian border. The intruders were sitting on the top of the mountain while the Indians were on the slopes and hence it was easy for them to attack and equally difficult for us.

On 3 May 1999, Pakistan started this war when it started occupying it with about 5000 soldiers. Operation Vijay was launched only to teach a lesson to the betrayers.

The might of the Indian Air Force was shown:

For ground attack, MiG-2I, MiG-23S, MiG-27, Jaguar and Mirage-2000 aircraft were used. Primarily, the MiG-21 was built for aerial fire with a secondary role of ground attack. The MiG-23 and 27 were optimized to attack targets on the ground.

There were many attacks on Pakistan’s bases. Hence, IAF’s MiG-21 and Mirage 2000 were extensively used in Operation Safed Sagar during this war.

War of India & Pakisthan

In the beginning of winter, soldiers used to leave their posts on the high peaks and come to the lower areas. Both Pakistan and Indian armies used to do this. When the Indian army came down from the peaks in winter, Pakistani soldiers and terrorists secretly infiltrated and captured the major peaks.

The Indian Army got information about this infiltration from the shepherds. The shepherds had seen Pakistani soldiers and infiltrators there. After this, the Indian Army launched ‘Operation Vijay’ to clear its land from the infiltrators.
