JBNSTS Junior Scholarship 2023: Jagadis Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS) 2023 has introduced a new Junior Scholarship opportunity for individuals seeking financial assistance. The JBNSTS Junior Scholarship is designed to support candidates who are interested in pursuing their education and are in need of financial aid.

What Is JBNSTS?

Jagadis Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS), Kolkata is an Autonomous Registered Society under the West Bengal Society Registration Act XXI of 1860 (No.S/4353 of 1960-61).

This organization is promoted by the Government of West Bengal and administered by a Governing Body with representatives from the State Government, Academics, and Industry. Conceptualized in 1958 by visionaries such as Dr.  B C  Roy and Sir Jehangir Ghandy, JBNSTS was initiated to commemorate the Birth Centenary Celebration of  India’s first modern scientist, Acharya J C Bose.

The program was inaugurated by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It enjoys the status of a special institution as declared by the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must fulfill the following eligibility criteria to apply for the scholarship:-

• The applicant must have passed his/her 10th standard or equivalent examination with 75% marks in aggregate
• He/ She must have taken admitted in Class 11th in the science stream in the current year in an institution in West Bengal
• The science stream students must have opted for at least 3 subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Statistics, and Computer Science.

Benefits Of The Scholarship Scheme

The following benefits will be provided to the candidates in this scholarship:-

• A scholarship worth INR 1,000 per month for 2 years (class 11th and 12th)
• A book grant of INR 2,500 per annum
• Exposure to seminars and workshops designed for young scholars.

JBNSTS Junior Scholarship Selection Process

The applicant will have to follow the following selection procedure in order to be selected for this opportunity:-

• JBNSTS Junior Talent Search Test is scheduled to be conducted in August 2021 at various test centers in West Bengal. The test will consist of Mathematical Science, Biological Science, and Physical Science. The exam will be 90 marks in total and the duration will be 2 hours.
• There will be no negative marking.
• The short-listed students will be invited for the interview round at a given time & venue. The scholarship is awarded to the candidates who clear the interview round. Students are advised to carry a hard copy of the interview letter along with the required documents when reporting for an interview.
• The students in this phase were evaluated on the basis of their creative skills in various situations. This phase is the third and last phase of the JBNSTS Scholarship.

You will have to keep in mind the following examination pattern to apply for this scholarship:-

Documents Required

The following documents are required to apply for JBNSTS Junior Scholarship:-

• Photograph (in JPEG format)
• Signature (in JPEG format)
• Secondary/equivalent mark sheet (in  PDF format)
• Admission proof (in  PDF format)
• Documents required for offline submission-
• Three recent passport-size photographs are to be affixed in the boxes provided in the application form
• Photocopy of the original mark sheet of 10th standard or equivalent examination
• Bank draft of INR 100 (non-refundable) payable at Kolkata in favor of “Jagadis Bose National Science Talent Search” as
• examination fee
• Self-addressed envelope with postal stamp of INR 10 (envelope size 20 cm x 12 cm) for sending admit card
• Proof of 11th standard admission (photocopy of fee receipt, library card, identity card, etc)

Terms and Conditions

The applicant must follow the following terms and conditions to apply for the scholarship:-

• There will also be an award for the Best School. It will be conferred to the school from where the maximum number of JBNSTS scholars are selected. The award for the best school includes a trophy and a library grant of INR 10,000
• The dates of application, examination, etc. are advertised in leading newspapers in West Bengal.
• The educational documents uploaded on the application portal should not be more than 1 MB in size.
• To enter the scholarship test, candidates need to pay an application fee of INR 100.
• The size of the uploaded photograph should be a Width of 160 x Height of 190 pixels.
• The size of the uploaded signature should be a Width of 160 x Height of 100 pixels.

• Click on Apply Online for the Junior Talent Search Test option displayed in the home page.
• A new page with instructions to fill in the form will appear on the screen.

• Read all of the instructions carefully
• Click on the Apply Online button
• The application form will be displayed on your screen
• Enter the following details – name, date of birth, gender, parent’s name, family income, address, email ID, details of the present institute from where candidates are pursuing their education, and details of Class 10.
• Upload the required documents.
• Pay your application fees
• Successfully submit the application form
