Process to download the GATE Admit Card 2026
Applicants can access and download the GATE admit card from the official website from 2nd January 2026 onwards. Downloading the admit card is an easy and straightforward process, and here are the simple steps.
- First, go to the official website: gate2026.iitg.ac.in.
- Navigate to the Application Portal section.
- A login page will appear, where you have to provide your Enrollment ID and Password.
- Before clicking on the Login button, verify the details you just provided.
- GATE Admit Card will appear in PDF.
- Download your admission card and print it out.

GATE Schedule 2026

Important Points for Downloading and Exam Day
Before you download the admit card, keep these things in mind:
- Make sure your internet connection is stable. This will help print all details, like the barcode, clearly.
- Use a desktop computer or a laptop for downloading the admit card.
- Keep your login details (enrollment ID and password) ready before you start downloading.
- Take several printouts of your admit card. Use good-quality A4-size paper. Color printouts are suggested. This helps if one copy gets damaged or if any details become unclear.
- Check all details on your admit card carefully. This includes your name, photograph, signature, exam center, exam date, and time. If there is any mistake, contact IIT Guwahati immediately.
On the day of the exam, reach your exam center at least one hour before the exam starts. This will give you enough time for security checks. The GATE exam will be held in two shifts:
- Morning Shift: 9:30 am to 12:30 pm
- Afternoon Shift: 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm
Students will get a scribble pad (about 10 pages) for rough work at the exam center. An online calculator will be available on the computer screen for calculations. No personal calculators are allowed.
