DRDO DMSRDE Walk-In Interview 2026: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has announced a walk-in interview for the engagement of Research Associate (RA) and Junior Research Fellow (JRF) positions at its Defence Materials & Stores Research & Development Establishment (DMSRDE), Kanpur. This recruitment drive offers a valuable opportunity for young researchers and engineers to work on advanced defence research projects under the Ministry of Defence.

The engagement will be on a temporary basis and is intended for candidates with strong academic backgrounds in science and engineering disciplines related to materials, polymers, chemistry, and chemical engineering.

Positions and Vacancies (DRDO DMSRDE Walk-In Interview)

DRDO DMSRDE has notified the following fellowships:

  • Research Associate (RA) – 1 post
  • Junior Research Fellow (JRF) – 2 posts

The number of vacancies may vary depending on project requirements and candidate suitability.

Educational Qualifications

Research Associate (RA)
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Chemistry or a closely related discipline from a recognized university. Applicants who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis may also appear for the interview, but final appointment will be subject to award of the degree or provisional certificate.

Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
Eligible candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Postgraduate degree in Chemistry, Material Science, or Polymer Science with NET qualification, or
  • Graduate degree (B.E./B.Tech.) in Chemical Engineering, Material Science & Engineering, Polymer Engineering/Technology with NET or GATE, or
  • Postgraduate professional degree (M.E./M.Tech.) in the relevant discipline with first division at both graduate and postgraduate levels.

Age Limit

  • Research Associate: Maximum 35 years
  • Junior Research Fellow: Maximum 28 years

Age relaxation is applicable as per Government norms:

  • 5 years for SC/ST candidates
  • 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates

Fellowship Amount and Benefits for DRDO DMSRDE Walk-In Interview

Selected candidates will receive attractive monthly stipends:

  • Research Associate: ₹67,000 per month
  • Junior Research Fellow: ₹37,000 per month (for the first two years)

In addition, contingency grants are admissible on a reimbursement basis:

  • ₹20,000 per annum for Research Associates
  • ₹15,000 per annum for Junior Research Fellows

House Rent Allowance (HRA) will be applicable as per Government rules. Medical facilities for self will be available through the institute’s MI Room. However, fellows will not be entitled to benefits such as DA, CCA, bonus, or retirement benefits.
