Record for Highest Admissions: Today marks a historic moment for Tripura Santiniketan Medical College as it officially enters the India Book of Records. The college has earned this prestigious recognition in the category of “Highest Statewide Admissions in the First Academic Year.” This achievement is considered a significant milestone for the institution, its students and the entire healthcare education sector of the state.
The grand announcement took place at a special event on the college premises. The event was attended by distinguished guests, including renowned physician Dr. Yash Gautam, representing India Book of Records, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Tripura, Arif Mohammad, Sougata Pit, professors, students and other eminent personalities. On this occasion, India Book of Records presented a special certificate and memento to the college authorities in recognition of their achievement.
Tripura Santiniketan Medical College began its first academic session in 2024 with the goal of providing world-class medical education to students of the state. Right from the first year, the college witnessed an overwhelming number of admissions from across various states, making it an exceptional case among newly established medical colleges in India.

The highest number of students โ 47 are from Tripura itself. Additionally, students have joined from West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Delhi, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Uttarakhand.
This remarkable representation from across the country establishes Tripura Santiniketan Medical College as a rising centre of excellence in healthcare education at the national level. From its inception, the college has successfully attracted talented students and their guardians from various regions.
At today’s event, Dr. Yash Gautam of India Book of Records handed over the prestigious certificate, medal, and honorary plaque to Prof. Dr. Nilratan Majumdar, Head of the Paediatrics Department at the college.
Students of the college were delighted by this accomplishment, which was reflected in their vibrant cultural performances. As a tribute to the diverse student body, they showcased cultural and traditional aspects from the 21 states they represent.
Speaking at the event, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar said, “For a small state like Tripura, this is a major achievement. Apart from medical education, this college will also contribute to the healthcare sector and job creation. The government will provide the necessary support to ensure further growth.”
