DAMINI Lightning Location App: বজ্রপাত-যা মানবজাতিকে কেবল মুগ্ধ করে না, ভীতও করে। পৃথিবীতে প্রতি সেকেন্ডে প্রায় 50 থেকে 100 টা মতন বজ্রপাতের ঘটনা ঘটে। ভারতে সাম্প্রতিককালে বজ্রপাত সকল প্রাকৃতিক দুর্যোগের মধ্যে সর্বাধিক ঘাতক হয়ে উঠেছে। তথ্য অনুযায়ী ভারতে বজ্রপাতের ফলে প্রতি বছর প্রায় 2000 থেকে 2500 জন মারা যায়।
Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune দেশের বিভিন্ন অংশে প্রায় 48 টি Lightning sensors Install করে Lightning Location Network তৈরি করেছে যার মাধ্যমে বজ্রপাত এবং বজ্রপাতের গতিবিধি সম্পর্কে সঠিক তথ্য সরবরাহ করে কোনো স্থানে বজ্রপাতের আগাম পূর্বাভাস দেওয়া সম্ভব।
ESSO-IITM এই নেটওয়ার্কটি ব্যবহার করে DAMINI: Lightning Alert নামে একটি Mobile Application তৈরি করেছে।
অ্যাপটি কোনো স্থানের 40 বর্গকিলোমিটার এলাকা জুড়ে বজ্রপাতের আগাম পূর্বাভাস দিতে সক্ষম। Sensor এর সংখ্যা আরো বাড়িয়ে নেটওয়ার্ককে আরো শক্তিশালী করে স্থান-কাল অনুসারে পূর্বাভাসকে আরো নিখুঁত করবার পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে।
DAMINI Lightning Location App: Lightning – which not only fascinates mankind but also frightens them. There are about 50 to 100 lightning strikes per second on Earth.
Lightning has recently become the deadliest of all-natural disasters in India. According to the data, about 2000 to 2500 people die every year due to lightning in India.
The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune has installed Lightning Location Network by installing about 48 Lightning Sensors in different parts of the country through which it is possible to predict lightning in any place by providing accurate information about lightning and lightning movement.
ESSO-IITM has created a Mobile Application called DAMINI: Lightning Alert using this network.
The app is able to predict lightning across an area of 40 square kilometers in any place. There are plans to further strengthen the network by increasing the number of sensors and making space-time forecasting more accurate.
