ISRO NESAC Recruitment 2025: Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), North Eastern Space Applications Centre, Dept. of Space, Govt. of India has released a notification for the recruitment of various posts.

Walk-in-Interview for selection for temporary positions of Research Scientist, Research Associate-I, and Junior Research Fellow in NESAC.

North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Umiam is an autonomous body under the Department of Space, Government of India to assist development process in North Eastern Region using space science and technology. It undertakes specific applications projects using remote sensing, Geographic Information System (GIS), satellite communication and conducting space atmospheric science research. Its services are helpful in natural resources management, infrastructure, town planning, health, education, disaster management, earth observation applications mission, etc.

NESAC is conducting walk-in interviewsย for the following positions on temporary project basis tentatively scheduled on 04th to 08th August 2025, [reporting time is 08:30 AM)] at NESAC, Umiam, Ri Bhoi District, Meghalaya (85 kms from Guwahati Railway Station and 18 kms from Shillong).

Educational Qualification for ISRO NESAC Recruitment 2025:

What are the educational qualification for the recruitment of ISRO NESAC โ€“in detail below;

Research Scientist (RS):

  • M.Sc./M.Tech in relevant disciplines such as:
    • Remote Sensing & GIS
    • Geology/Geography
    • Forestry/Agriculture/Soil Science
    • Water Resources Engineering
    • Urban Planning
    • Computer Science/Data Science
  • Must have First Class with minimum 65% marks or CGPA 6.84/10

Project Associate โ€“ I:

  • M.Sc. in Forestry/Environmental Science or equivalent with working knowledge of GIS/Remote Sensing

Junior Research Fellow (JRF):

  • M.Sc./M.Tech in RS & GIS/Geoinformatics/Geology/Environmental Science
  • Must have valid NET/GATE score for fellowship eligibility

Age Limit:

What are the educational qualification for the recruitment of ISRO NESAC โ€“in detail below;

  • For Research Scientist: (M.Sc based) โ€“ Maximum age 28 years as on date of Interview.
  • For Research Scientist: (M.Tech based) โ€“ Maximum age 30 years as on date of Interview.
  • For Research Associate – I: Maximum age 35 years as on date of Interview.
  • For Junior Research Fellow: Maximum age 28 years as on date of Interview

Relaxation by 5 years in case of SC/ST candidates and 3 years in case of OBC candidates. Ex-Servicemen, Persons with Disabilities are eligible for age relaxation as per Government of India orders. Candidates claiming age relaxation have to submit valid documentary proof.

Emoluments & other benefits:

Pay & Allowances for Research Scientist: Selected candidates will be offered the monthly emoluments of โ‚น 56,100/-. In addition only applicable DA, HRA and medical benefits for self only will be allowed as per rules.

Pay & Allowances for Research Associate-I: Page 10 of 12 Monthly emoluments of โ‚น 58,000/- will be given. In addition to the above only applicable HRA and medical benefits for self only will be allowed as per rules.

Pay & Allowances for Junior Research Fellow: Monthly Fellowship Amount is โ‚น 37,000/-. In addition to the above-mentioned fellowship amount, HRA at the applicable rates in force at the place of posting/HRA sanctioned under the respective project whichever is less will be paid and Medical benefits for self only will be allowed as per extant rules.

Junior Research Fellows are eligible only for Casual Leave while RA and Research Scientists are eligible for leave as per rules of the Institution. Maternity leave as per Govt. of India instructions would be available to all female RSs/RAs/JRFs. Apart from this, the candidates selected will not be entitled to any benefits or concessions admissible to regular employees.

Eligibility Criteria for ISRO NESAC Recruitment:

What are the eligibility criteria for the engagement of ISRO โ€“in detail below;

M.E./M.Tech degree should be with an aggregate minimum of 60% (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.5 on a 10 point scale or equivalent from recognized university.

B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc. degree should be with an aggregate minimum of 65% (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.84 on a 10 point scale or equivalent from recognized university.

The applicants for JRF positions should qualify one of the following tests in relevant discipline (as per advertised discipline) and the year of acquiring qualification along with score card have to be furnished at the time of Interview:

  • CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test including NET-Lectureship
  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) conducted by MHRD
  • Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) conducted by MHRD
  • Biotechnology Eligibility Test & Test conducted in Bio-informatics by Bioinformatics National Consortium
  • Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST), Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology & Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS) conducted by Department of Atomic Energy.
  • All India Competitive Examination (AICE) conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
  • State Level Eligibility Test (SLET) conducted on behalf of the UGC by the National Test Agency.

Tenure of the positions:

For Research Scientist/ Research Associate-I: The Research Scientist/Research Associate-I positions are purely on temporary basis for a period of ONE YEAR which can be further extended based on the performance of the candidate in the periodical reviews, for a maximum period of THREE YEARS in total or co-terminus with the project, whichever is earlier, without any provision for regularization.

For Junior Research Fellow: The Junior Research Fellow positions are purely on temporary basis and coterminus with the project without any provision for regularization. Junior Research Fellow will be engaged initially for ONE YEAR or the period of the project whichever is earlier and is extendable for further periods based on assessment of their work and requirement of project. The maximum period of engagement of Junior Research Fellows shall not exceed FIVE YEARS or project duration whichever is earlier.

Application Procedure for the Recruitment of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC):

Interested and eligible candidates are required to directly come to the venue along with their Biodata (as per prescribed format) and all relevant original documents containing proof of details furnished in the Biodata along with a set of self-attested photocopies of the documents, failing which the candidate will not be interviewed. Candidates who are already employed under Central/State Government/Public Sector Undertakings or Autonomous Bodies will also have to produce the โ€œNo Objection Certificateโ€, in original, at the time of interview. In case the candidate fails to produce any of the above documents or if any information furnished in the Biodata is found to be wrong or false, the candidate will not be interviewed.
